Man.. I’ve been shooting a lot of white cars recently! But since everyone has their own unique styles, it never gets old :). Here’s Steven’s clean BMW M3. Once of the few times I shoot at night, so it’s different. The place we went to seemed pretty ghetto. Lighting wasn’t too great and there were abstracts getting in the way everywhere. The owners of the place were nice enough to let us shoot around even though it was late at night. Great props to them!! Anyway… here are the photos. Enjoy!

Believe it or not, I’ve never been to a Nisei car show before. So I took this opportunity to go to one. They said last year was the last one, but they lied :) Good thing for me. I had a chance to see various Japanese cars and meet up with a lot of old friends. There were also other cars there too that weren’t Japanese. The show wasn’t too big, but still had a lot of unique cars. The Japanese scene is very different from the European scene that I’m a little bit more used to, but it’s always good to venture out and see what’s up on the other side.

I edited these photos on a borrowed computer since I’m upgrading. So please excuse the rather harsh editing (at least in my opinion). If needed, I’ll revisit these photos in a week or so when my new computer decides to show up :) Enjoy…

So me and Ivan hooked up again to shoot his car which was now at stage 2 with mods. Since I’ve already shot his car before, this time I took the liberty to capture angles that I didn’t the first time around. I hope this brings out more perspective of his car. I must say, his car looks and sounds meaner since we first met. It’s great to see how cars progress as time passes. Ivan’s 335i is one of the cleaner ones I’ve seen. Great job Ivan!

I recently received a surprise in the mail. The July 2010 issue of BMW Performance Magazine…





Yes, this is a magazine. Yes, this is a pretty popular magazine. Yes, my MFEST IV photos are in it with a 5 page spread. Yes, they spelled my name wrong (John Zang haha). No, I am not on the front page, but my goal is to be! It’s things like these that make my work much more enjoyable and my daily photo workflow much, much more bearable than it already is :)

The surprises don’t end there… I recently woke up to an overloaded email inbox and many texts from friends that BMW themselves had featured my shoot of Charles’ BMW M3 on their Facebook fan page! This was really and truly amazing! I am very humbled by this, words really can’t even describe how I felt. All I can say is that it was a very positive feeling :)

As a gift to you and all my other viewers, here are some wallpapers I made with their respective owners’ permission, for everyone and anyone to download. I’ve never done this before, so just be patient if my server crashes or something haha. I had trouble coming up with default wallpaper sizes so I decided to just release large enough wallpaper for download so everyone could resize them themselves. Enjoy!

It’s been nearly a year that I’ve since released and published this blog online and I must say it’s been a great one! I rarely look at stats, but I must say it’s been an extreme improvement!

Thank you all once again, and I will come back even stronger for the last half of 2010. Man… time flies!!

I recently got together with Kevin to finally shoot his car. We’ve been meaning to get together for a shoot ever since last year before he switched to this beautiful new 2011 535i. This car looks and feels very classy, so I didn’t try to do too much to these photos. I did use a different lens and editing style if you guys can tell though. I’m hoping it looks much more clean, natural, and less “fake”. I’ve been experimenting a lot lately and this is what I came up with. Although I must admit, I couldn’t really resist, so in a couple of the photos, they look a little more edited than the others. :) Some of the locations were chosen by Kevin himself and I must say, I think the shoot and location turned out to be a good match! Recently I finally met up with Charles who has been asking for a shoot for a while now. This is his beast and the exhaust note proves it! This car defiantly makes a statement everywhere it goes. We got up bright a early to hit up LA and to avoid traffic. This shoot features urban flavor and shows off his car in downtown LA well. Enjoy!

After finding out last minute that HellaFlush 5 was going down pretty close to home, I decided to go. It was hosted at beautiful Venice Beach. So I tried to get the beach atmosphere to show in most of the photos. I really hope I captured it and didn’t go too overboard. Anyway, I meet a lot of new people and was surprised by all the people who knew me even though I’ve never met them. That’s cool! I also caught up with a lot of old friends who I didn’t even know would attend. Lots of pleasant surprises and a parking lot full of nice cars from different brands and generations. Check it out!
